The paper reports results of studies of a new support obtained by modi
fication of magnesium fluoride surface with titania. The IR and cataly
tic test results have shown favourable chang es of the surface of the
support after titania addition including the appearance of new hydroxy
ls as well as Lewis acid centres and redox sites. Introduction of acti
ve phase (WO3, V2O5 or MoO3) onto the surface of MgF2-TiO2 resulted in
an increased number of Lewis and Bronsted (WO3, MoO3, MoO3) or redox
centres (V2O5) The catalysts based on the mixed support were found to
be more active when compared with those supported on MgF2.
