Abstract
A three-year-old, female Labrador retriever was presented for acute ge
neralized seizures. Disseminated cryptococcosis with central nervous s
ystem (CNS) involvement was diagnosed by serum and cerebrospinal fluid
(CSF) fungal titers, histopathological examination, and magnetic reso
nance imaging (MRI). Fluconazole therapy resulted in prolonged, substa
ntial clinical improvement for a period of one year. This report docum
ents the diagnosis of a case of cryptococcal meningoencephalitis and i
ts management with the new antifungal agent, fluconazole.
