Abstract
The authors have demonstrated a high performance, noninterferometric, emiconductor-optical-amplifier/fibre-Bragg-grating wavelength converte r requiring a record low smirching power of <-12dBm for return-to-zero data at 10Gbit/s. The converted output is a non-inverting signal with an extinction ratio of 30. The transmission properties of the convert ed output in nondispersion-shifted fibre are also investigated.
