Abstract
The authors report a method for stretching electrical signals in time. A high chirp rate is imposed on the electrical signal by mixing it wi th a dispersed ultra-short optical pulse in an electrooptic intensity modulator. This is followed by a passive optical dispersion element to produce a time-magnified copy of the input electrical signal.
