Abstract
Two lattice Boltzmann models for multiphase flows, the immiscible flui d model proposed by Rothman and Keller (R-K) and the multicomponent no nideal gas lattice Boltzmann model by Shan and Chen (S-C), are studied numerically to compare their abilities to simulate the physics of mul tiphase flows. The test problem is the simulation of a static bubble. Isotropy, strength of surface tension, thickness of the interface, spu rious currents, Laplace's law, and steadiness of the bubble are examin ed. The results show that the S-C model is a major improvement over th e R-K model. (C) 1997 Academic Press.
