We demonstrate that gapless plasmons lead to a universal (delta nu(eps
ilon)/nu(proportional to)\epsilon\/E-F) correction to the tunneling de
nsity of states of a clean two-dimensional Coulomb interacting electro
n gas. We also show how this correction affects the conductance of a t
