Abstract
In conventional fault tree analysis (FTA), the ambiguous and imprecise events such as human errors tend not to be handled effectively. To ov ercome this disadvantage, a hybrid approach employing fuzzy set evalua tion and probabilistic estimation for FTA is proposed to evaluate abno rmal events. The safety problem of unexpected robot motion in an aircr aft wing drilling system was analyzed using the proposed method. The r esults indicated that the proposed approach is very effective in analy zing the reliability of a man-machine system. (C) 1998. Published by E lsevier Science Limited.
