Abstract
A new approach was developed for the analysis of problems of physics g overned by laws of conservation. The methodology establishes an analog y between various aspects of evolution and genetics of life processes and inanimate physical systems. This analogy is then used to generate solutions to physical problems in a similar way to which organisms in nature solve problems imposed by environmental constraints. Finite dif ference and finite elements approximations are used in the numerical i mplementation of the method and a simple two-dimensional problem is so lved to illustrate the method.
