T. Yamaya et al., MEASUREMENTS OF THE TOTAL REACTION CROSSSECTION USING THE SUM-OF-DIFFERENCES METHOD, Physics letters. Section B, 417(1-2), 1998, pp. 7-12
A precise measurement of the total reaction cross sections in a model
independent way was made using the sum-of-differences (SOD) method in
C-12, C-13, N-15, O-16 + Si-28 elastic scattering at incident energies
much higher than the Coulomb barrier. Cross Sections have been measur
ed in an angular range of theta(lab) = 0.6 degrees similar to 2.0 degr
ees with high accuracy. The scattering amplitudes at theta = 0 degrees
and the total reaction cross sections were deduced from the present o
bservation by the SOD method. These total reaction cross sections were
compared with the results obtained from optical model analyses. Furth
ermore, it was shown that the contribution of the complete-fusion proc
ess to the total-reaction cross section in the C-12 + Si-28 scattering
system was 75% at E-cm = 45.5 MeV. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
