Abstract
The paper describes an experimental apparatus and experimental results which allows to measure a spatial self-focusing of a laser beam throu gh a Bi12TiO20 (BTO) photorefractive crystal. The comparison with a (1 +1) theoretical model confirms the occurrence of the transient and ste ady state solitons.
