Bm. Park et al., CHARACTERISTICS OF 90-DEGREES DOMAIN-WALL OF BARIUM-TITANATE IN REPEATED TRANSITIONS BETWEEN CUBIC AND TETRAGONAL PHASES, Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 32, 1998, pp. 752-754
The characteristics of 90 degrees domain wall in Barium Titanate (BaTi
O3) in the repeated cubic-to-tetragonal phase transitions were investi
gated. Surface polishing and heat treatment affected on the arrangemen
t of the 90 degrees domain walls. Especially, a relation between the 9
0 degrees domain configuration and the surface polishing in the repeat
ed phase transition was observed. This relation found to be strongly r
elated to the characteristics of the 90 degrees a-a and the 90 degrees
a-e boundaries. Each characteristic depended on the surface deformati
on due to the polishing and the phase transition. As the results, some
90 degrees a-a domain boundaries could be memorized in the forming po
sition through the repeated phase transitions by surface polishing. A
comprehensive model to explain this phenomenon was proposed.
