S. Stolen et al., HEAT-CAPACITY AND THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF MANGANESE MONOPHOSPHIDEAT TEMPERATURES FROM 5 K TO 840 K - TRANSITIONS, Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 30(1), 1998, pp. 117-127
The heat capacity of manganese monophosphide (MnP) has been determined
by adiabatic shield calorimetry at temperatures from 5K to 840K. The
heli- to ferromagnetic transition is noted only as a slightly enhanced
heat capacity at T approximate to 53K. A h-type heat capacity contrib
ution with maximum at T= 289.5K is related to the transition from ferr
o-to paramagnetism in the compound. The clearly cooperative part of th
e transitional entropy is only 1.27J.K-1.mol(-1) over the region T=220
K to T=400 K. Less cooperative magnetic/electronic contributions are
present. The overall estimated transitional entropy amounts to 5.2 J+K
-1 mol(-1) at T=800 K. Values of the thermodynamic properties at T = 2
98.15 K and T = 800 K are: [GRAPHICS] (C) 1998 Academic Press Limited.
