Abstract
A three-dimensional ductile damage model based on the endochronic plas tic theory is developed and employed to characterize the failure proce ss of double-edge notched thick-tension specimens. A ductile damage ev olution equation is derived with a new intrinsic time-scale specifical ly defined to characterize damage evolution. Two damage failure criter ia are proposed and employed to predict the failure loads and crack in itiation sites which correspond well with those measured experimentall y.
