Cs. Park et al., CRYSTAL-GROWTH OF PBMG1 3NB2/3O3 AND PBZN1/3NB2/3O3 AND STRUCTURAL STUDIES ON THE ORDERING/, Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 32, 1998, pp. 974-977
Single crystals of PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3 and PbZn1/3Nb2/3O3 were grown from t
he high temperature solution using the PbO/B2O3 flux up to 10 mm in si
ze. The formation of the pyrochlore crystals during the growth of PbMg
1/3Nb2/3O3 could be prevented by the addition of excess MgO in the sol
ution. The crystal PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3 grown by TSSG technique contained a
large amount of defects. The 1:1 ordering of Mg and Nb ions in the PbM
g1/3Nb2/3O3 could be confirmed by electron diffraction. The ferroelect
ric domains in PbZn1/3Nb2/3O3 were observed under polarizing microscop
e with applied electric field.
