Abstract
A new approach is developed for modeling the temperature and compositi on dependence of glass viscosity in the system Na2O-CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 . The temperature dependence is described using the equation log(log e ta) = A + B log T. The dependence of the coefficients A and B on chemi cal composition of the glass is expressed using reduced full-cubic mix ture polynomials. The new approach is much simpler to develop and use than the previous approach, and it has the potential to yield better p roperty composition models. The new approach yields an improved model for the dependence of viscosity on composition in the Na2O-CaO-MgO-Al2 O3-SiO2 glass system studied.
