The relationship between scores on locus of control, occupational stre
ss, and stress symptoms was examined in 189 Hong Kong Chinese professi
onals. Scores on locus of control were associated with occupational st
ress and psychological stress symptoms but were unrelated to reporting
of physical symptoms. While both sexes reported similar occupational
stress, women scored as more External and reported more of both types
of symptoms. The implications of the results were discussed.
