The lattice dynamics and microstructures in the proton-exchanged LiNbO
3 are studied. Raman spectra of proton exchange time dependence shows
that the mixed-mode effects: A and E modes occur in the scattering geo
metries for E and A modes, attributed to photovoltaic effects and inte
rnal strains, respectively. Fifty times lower intensity of Raman lines
were found in LN:H+ Raman spectra with 12 h proton exchange. The latt
ice distortion is also recorded with the a-axis elongation and the c-a
xis shortening.
