Dielectric constant (epsilon) and dielectric loss (tan delta) of terbi
um gallium garnet (Tb3Ga5O12) single crystal have been measured in the
frequency range from 100 Hz to 100 kHz and in the temperature range f
rom room temperature to 400 degrees C. AC conductivity was calculated
from the data on epsilon and tan delta. The room temperature dielectri
c constant of the garnet measured at 10(6) Hz is 12.4. The de conducti
vity as a function of temperature is also measured. The results are di
scussed in the light of the existing data.
