G. Kuhn et al., INFLUENCE OF DIETARY CHROMIUM YEAST SUPPL EMENTATION ON GROWTH AND CARCASS CHARACTERISTICS IN GROWING-FINISHING PIGS, Archiv fur Tierzucht, 40(2), 1997, pp. 143-151
An experiment with 34 male castrated pigs from 28 to 110 kg body weigh
t in individual pens were made to evaluate the effect of chromium (Cr)
yeast on growth performance, carcass composition, meat quality, and s
tress susceptibility of the pigs. The chrom yeast was supplemented to
normal diet in a dose of 400 g/t. The Cr supplementation caused no sig
nificant changes regarding to growth performance, carcass quality, and
cretinin-kinase-activity of the pigs. Only, the intramuscular fat con
tent of chromium yeast fed pigs was higher.
