Fused silica-packed capillary columns containing vancomycin immobilize
d by reductive amination on an aldehyde-silica were used to separate e
nantiomers of some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Attempts hav
e been made to qualitatively explain the influence of various mobile p
hase compositions on the enantioselective retention. The effects of mo
bile phase pH, buffer, and organic modifier concentrations were invest
igated as well as the influence of salts of hydrophobic ions added to
the mobile phase to induce ion pair retention. (C) 1998 Wiley-Liss, In
