Abstract
N-protected alpha-alkyl-gamma-amino-beta-keto-esters were synthesized from the corresponding N-urethane protected N-carboxyanhydride (UNCAs) by reaction with lithium enolates in fairly good yields. These compou nds are candidates for mimicking the transition state analogue in enzy me inhibitors. They constitute, however, interesting and diverse build ing blocks for using in combinatorial chemistry. (C) 1998 Elsevier Sci ence Ltd. All rights reserved.
