F. Ashida et N. Noda, CONTROL OF TRANSIENT THERMOELASTIC DISPLACEMENT OF AN ISOTROPIC PLATEASSOCIATED WITH A PIEZOELECTRIC CERAMIC PLATE, Journal of thermal stresses, 20(3-4), 1997, pp. 407-427
A solid-state actuator that is able to control a transient thermoelast
ic displacement induced by temperature change of the surrounding mediu
m is proposed The actuator is constructed of an isotropic structural p
late to which a piezoelectric ceramic plate of crystal class 6 mm is p
erfectly bonded. This three-dimensional problem of thermoelasticity in
the combined plate is analyzed by means of the potential function met
hods. Consequently, an appropriate electric potential applied to the p
iezoelectric ceramic plate is obtained that gives the prescribed norma
l elastic displacement on the free surface of the isotropic structural
plate. Finally, numerical results are illustrated graphically.
