B. Wolle et al., ELECTRON-TEMPERATURE DETERMINATION FROM NEUTRON RATE MEASUREMENTS FORNBI-HEATED HIGH-DENSITY TEXTOR PLASMAS, Plasma physics and controlled fusion, 39(4), 1997, pp. 541-545
A fast computer code for the simulation and analysis of neutron signal
s is used to map out parameter ranges where relevant plasma parameters
can be determined from neutron rate measurements of plasmas heated by
neutral beam injection (NBI). The comparison with experimental values
from the TEXTOR database identifies a small number of NBI-heated high
-density discharges where the measurement of the central electron temp
erature by using second harmonic ECE emission becomes in principle imp
ossible although its determination by using third harmonic emission is
possible. The calculations show that the electron temperatures can be
determined with sufficient accuracy from neutron emission rate measur
ements. As an example of this novel application, core electron tempera
tures are evaluated for TEXTOR discharges.
