Abstract
The analogy between the striations seen in pellet plasmas and those ob served in some extraterrestrial plasma scenarios is discussed. With re gard to the origin of the striations, some alternatives, complementary to Parks' proposal (1996 Plasma Phys. Control. Fusion 38 571-91), are outlined.
