Abstract
The Coulomb problem for continuous charge distributions is a central p roblem in physics. Powerful methods, that scale linearly with system s ize and that allow us to use different resolutions in different region s of space are therefore highly desirable. Using wavelet based Multi R esolution Analysis we derive a novel method which has these properties . The power and accuracy of the method is illustrated by applying it t o the calculation of the electrostatic potential of a full three-dimen sional all-electron uranium dimer.
