Castleman's disease is an uncommon lymph node disorder which can be as
sociated with renal disease. In this report we describe a patient with
fever, weight loss, anorexia, increase in inflammatory proteins, anem
ia and nephrotic syndrome, Castleman's disease, plasma cell type, was
diagnosed by histologic analysis after surgical excision of a pelvic l
ymph node, The disease was considered localized, since further investi
gations did not show any other pathologic mass. After resection of the
pelvic lymphoid mass, clinical remission of systemic symptoms and lab
oratory abnormalities was observed., with the exception of the nephrot
ic syndrome, Renal biopsy was performed and showed a pattern compatibl
e with fibrillary glomerulonephritis. Progressive decline in renal fun
ction was observed, despite immunosuppressive therapy.
