Ethylbenzene (EB) conversion over high-silica mordenites prepared by d
irect crystallization and dealumination is studied. Dealumination is s
hown to increase the rate of EB disproportionation and catalyst stabil
ity. The conditions for the preparation of the mordenite catalysts ena
bling improved selectivity for the EB conversion into p-diethylbenzene
are found.
