Abstract
The 2-acyl-3-aminoindenes 1 and 2 react with formamidine acetate to yi eld the indeno[1,2-d]pyrimidines 3 and 4. The 4-chloropyrimidine 5, sy nthesized from 4 with phosphorous oxychloride, reacts with N-nucleophi les to form the title compounds 6-8. Only 8 shows a weak antimalaria a ctivity.
