EXTRACTION OF URANIUM(VI) WITH A BINARY MIXTURE OF LIX-860 AND VERSATIC-10

Extraction studies of uranium(VI) with LIX-860 (HX) (a mixture of 5-do decylsalicylaldoxime and a small amount of 3-nonyl acetophenone oxime in kerosene) and its mixture with Versatic-10 (HR) (mixture of tertiar y monocarboxylic acid) have been carried out. The extracted species: a re proposed to be UO2X2, UO2X2(HR)(n), UO2R2(HX)(n) and UO2RX (HX)(n)( HR)(n) on the basis of slope analysis for individual LIX-860 and its b inary mixture respectively. The extraction efficiency of individual ex tractant and its mixtures is compared in various diluents. Synergistic effects have been studied with binary mixtures of the extractants and the Delta D values are found to be low. Influence of addition of vari ous salts on the extraction was also studied.
