Mononuclear and heterodinuclear complexes of the title ligand, L, with
Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and Pd(II) have been synthesised and character
ised with the aid of elemental analyses, conductivity and magnetic sus
ceptibility measurements, IR and W-Vis spectroscopy. The ligand L acts
as a tridentate in all mononuclear complexes. The amido nitrogen (P-N
IF) of the spirocyclic ring, pyrazolyl pyridinic nitrogen and cyclotri
phosphazene ring nitrogen are involved in coordination. This ligand be
haves as a pentadentate in the dinuclear complexes where additional co
ordination is achieved by the two geminal pyrazolyl pyridinic nitrogen
s at the 3rd phosphorus atom of the phosphazene ring. All mononuclear
complexes with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) form trigonal bipyramidal coordi
nation. In the heterodinuclear complexes the palladium prefers square-
planar geometry.
