WHITHER MAGNETIC RECORDING

This paper relates details of thr presentations made during the Sympos ium on Magnetic Recording held during ICM '97. The format for the symp osium consisted of two presentations, detailing the basics of the tech nology, a description of the format of the current recording media and some indication of current technological issues and their relationshi p to the underline science.
