Abstract
The superparamagnetic relaxation time of carbon-supported alpha-Fe par ticles with an average size of 3.0 Mm has been studied over a large te mperature range by the use of Mossbauer spectroscopy combined with AC and DC magnetization measurements. It is found that the relaxation tim e varies with temperature in accordance with Ni el's expression, tau = tau(0) exp (KV/kT) with tau(0) = (1.0 +/- 0.5) x 10(-10) s and K = (1 .2 +/- 0.2) x 10(5) J m(-3).
