Abstract
The effect of additions of V, Si, Ga or Cr on the structure and magnet ic properties of mechanically milled Nd8Fe88B4 has been investigated M echanical milling followed by suitable heat-treatment resulted in the formation of nanocomposites of Nd2Fe14B and alpha-Fe. For all composit ions, optimally annealed samples exhibited remanence enhancement and s ingle-phase magnetic behaviour, due to exchange interactions between N d2Fe14B and alpha-Fe. However, no significant improvements in either r emanence or coercivity were observed as a result of the additions. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
