The temperature dependence of thermal conductivity and electrical resi
stivity was measured for the polycrystalline ferromagnetic compound Nd
Ni and nonmagnetic LaNi in the temperature region from 2 to 40 K. Anom
alies were observed in the temperature dependence of thermal conductiv
ity, electrical resistivity and Lorenz number of NdNi at 14 and 27 K d
ue to the magnetic scattering process. Assuming the validity of the Wi
edemann-Franz law, we have tried to separate the electron and phonon c
omponents of thermal conductivity of nonmagnetic compound LaNi. (C) 19
