Abstract
The Curie temperature, lattice parameters and the Fe-57 Mossbauer spec tra were studied on Y2Fe17-xMx, where M = Al(0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to ), Si(0 less than or equal to x less than or eq ual to 3.5) and Ga(0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 11) . The analysis of Mossbauer spectrum shows the preferential site occup ation of M atoms. The preference has little dependence on M. The behav ior of the Curie temperature is closely related not to the lattice dim ension but to the preferential site occupation of M. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
