The domain resonance ferromagnetic resonance (DRFMR) is described for
perpendicularly magnetized Co(0 0 0 1) thin films supporting a very na
rrow, strong stripe-domain structure with domain widths of the order o
f the film thickness. The DRFMR experiments show that besides the conv
entional mode splitting of the uniform mode into an acoustic and an op
tic mode, a series of new modes occur which are shifted down field. Th
e thickness dependence of these low-field modes suggests an interpreta
tion in terms of magneto-exchange modes with discrete wave vectors qua
ntized across the film thickness as well as across the domain width. (
