Abstract
A curious phenomenon has been observed which can be understood only wh en assuming that the extraordinary MR does take place in non-ferromagn etic layers formed on surfaces of ferromagnetic metals. In this phenom enon, the maximum value corresponding to the MR ratio of the copper la yer formed on a permalloy layer is estimated to be 46% of the permallo y layer. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
