Abstract
Orientation dependence of MO Kerr rotation and ellipticity spectra in epitaxitial Fe (0 0 1) and Fe (1 1 0) films deposited on Au (0 0 1) an d (1 1 1) plane buffer layers are reported in the range 1.55-10 eV. It is found that there is some orientational dependence in the MO Kerr s pectra of the epitaxial Fe films even though Fe does not have large ma gnetic anisotropy. Furthermore, the shape of the MO Kerr spectrum in F e (1 0 0) film agrees rather well with the theoretical calculation. (C ) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
