Abstract
Exogenous applications of abscisic acid (ABA) and benzyladenine (BA) t o mature fronds of the constitutive CAM fern, Pyrrosia piloselloides ( L.) Price, elicited responses similar to drought stress, resulting in reduction of the CAM capacity of mature fronds. Re-watering of these f ronds increased their CAM performance. Hence both ABA and BA could sub stitute for drought in the reduction of nocturnal CO2 fixation.
