Kw. Thomulka et Jh. Lange, A MODIFICATION OF THE VIBRIO-HARVEYI TOXICITY TEST FOR INCREASED VOLUMES UP TO 9 FOLD, Fresenius environmental bulletin, 7(3-4), 1998, pp. 170-176
This study evaluated toxicity of three organics, dibutyl methanephosph
onate, diethyl methanephosphonate and diisopropyl methanephosphonate,
using both a standard published procedure and a modified procedure of
the Vibrio harveyi direct toxicity test. Evaluation of this modified p
rocedure was performed by separate inclusion of two sediments, sand an
d soil, and water(buffer). The modification allows an increased volume
of chemical up to 9 fold. These data suggest that interactions with s
ediment are different at 1 fold and 9 fold volumes. Toxicity of each c
hemical is presented as its median effective concentration, molarity a
nd bioluminescent counts.
