Abstract
The recently occurred mud eruption in Elagiri region, Tamil Nadu appre ciably signifies the active tectonic movements along N-S trending line ament systems in South Indian peninsular shield. Such mud eruption war rants further detailed studies in the context of active tectonics and mid-plate seismicities in this area.
