T. Ellrott et al., THE 1 1-REPLACEMENT OF NORMAL FAT FOODS B Y LOW-FAT FOODS WITHOUT CARBOHYDRATE RESTRICTION - AN 8-WEEK STUDY/, Ernährungs-Umschau, 45(2), 1998, pp. 44
The simple 1:1-replacement of normal fat foods by low fat foods withou
t limiting carbohydrate intake led to an average weight loss of 1.5 +/
- 1.4 kg SD in 8 weeks in voluntary normal weight women (BMI less than
or equal to 25, n = 19). Fat intake could be decreased from 95.1 +/-
31.6 g/d SD to 62.9 +/- 24.6 g/d SD. 27 % of the saved fat energy was
compensated by higher intake of carbohydrates. The obese women (BMI >
25, n = 23) lost an average of 2.9 +/- 1.8 kg SD. Fat intake could be
decreased from 107.4 +/- 33.3 g/d SD to 66.3 +/- 21 g/d SD. 12% of the
saved fat energy was compensated by higher intake of carbohydrates.
