The search for effective methods to restrain raptors and other larger
birds has been an ongoing challenge for researchers. Biologists have d
evised methods for holding birds by adapting modern technologies, such
as synthetic hosiery, Vetrap (a self adhesive tape used by veterinari
ans), and even metal cans. This paper describes an ancient method of r
estrain-the Aba-and points out the advantages for its use on birds by
modern ornithologists.
