Abstract
The freshwater fish, Catla catla, were treated with a sublethal concen tration (0.37 ppm) of cadmium nitrate and the changes in plasma electr olytes were observed at weekly intervals for 28 days. The plasma sodiu m and potassium showed a decreasing trend throughout the experimental period. However, the plasma chloride decreased only upto 14th day and increased thereafter in the cadmium nitrate exposed fish.
