Metabolic pathways implied in the synthesis of succinoglycan produced
by the Su47 strain of R. meliloti were evaluated by C-13-NMR spectrosc
opy after incubation with [1-C-13] or [2-C-13]glucose. The biosynthesi
s of this polymer by R. meliloti from glucose occurred by a direct pol
ymerisation of the introduced glucose and by the pentose phosphate pat
hway.
