Abstract
The Q function or the quotient function is frequently encountered in e lectromagnetics research without knowledge of its basic properties. Ho wever, the simple rules given in the present paper can speed up the al gebraic work and reduce possible errors. Scalar, vector, and dyadic-va lued Q functions are discussed together with some applications in phys ics. (C) 1998 American Association of Physics Teachers.
