Abstract
The characteristic features of vortex dynamics corresponding to two-di mensional XY-type models with Ginzburg-Landau dynamics an extracted fr om simulations. The cases covered are with and without frustration, as well as above and below the Kosterlitz-Thouless transition. Most of t he results are very well described by a phenomenological response func tion. The dependence of the characteristic frequency for this response function on the vortex density, frustration, correlation length, and temperature is obtained. A critical behavior for vortex dynamics at th e Kosterlitz-Thouless transition is suggested by the simulations. The agreements with experiments and other simulations are discussed.
