Aa. Alwarthan et Fa. Aly, CHEMILUMINESCENT DETERMINATION OF PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE IN PHARMACEUTICAL SAMPLES USING FLOW-INJECTION, Talanta, 45(6), 1998, pp. 1131-1138
A chemiluminescent method using flow injection is described for the de
termination of pyridoxine hydrochloride. Its detection limit, linearit
y and reproducibility were examined. The method is based on the enhanc
ing effect of pyridoxine hydrochloride on the chemiluminescence genera
ted by the oxidation of luminol with hydrogen peroxide in aqueous pota
ssium hydroxide and sodium oxalate. The proposed method is simple and
inexpensive. The chemiluminescence intensity is a linear function of p
yridoxine hydrochloride concentration over the range 10-250 mu g ml(-1
) with a detection limit of 6 mu g ml(-1). The applicability of the me
thod was demonstrated by the determination of pyridoxine hydrochloride
in different tablet formulations and some dietary sources. (C) 1998 E
