Abstract
Measurements of the AC susceptibility, magnetization and electrical re sistivity of ternary stannides Nd2Pd2+xSn1-x are reported. The results demonstrate that Nd2Pd2.02Sn0.98 exhibits two magnetic transitions: t he first is purely antiferromagnetic at T-N = 8.8(3) K and the second at T-1 = 4.6(3) K results from the occurrence of a slight canting of t he Nd-magnetic moment. With the increase of Pd content this last trans ition disappears and the Neel temperature T-N decreases. All these com pounds present a complex (B, T)-magnetic phase diagram. For instance, a two-step meta-magnetic magnetization behaviour appears at 2 K for Nd 2Pd2.02Sn0.98. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
