Abstract
In this paper, the renewable energy vectors liquid hydrogen (LH2) and methanol generated from atmospheric CO2 are compared with the conventi onal crude oil-gasoline system. Both renewable concepts, liquid hydrog en and methanol, lead to a drastic CO2 reduction compared to the fossi l-based system. The comparison between the LH2 and methanol vector for the transport sector shows nearly the same fuel cost and energy effic iency but strong infrastructure advantages for methanol.
